From ZDNet, the recording of a call David Berlind made to T-Mobile regarding his attempted usage of a wi-fi service.
An excerpt:

At approximately 1:40 into the call, Rudy tries to tell me that if signal goes out, that it doesn’t mean it’s T-Mobile’s fault and that if such an outage occurs that T-Mobile usually notifies everyone. By everyone, I’m assuming T-Mobile’s hotspot users. However, I’m not sure how they do that if there’s a network outage. Perhaps its through some form of wireless broadband telepathy.

T-Mobile, like AOL before them, apologized after the call was posted. Berlind continued, however, posting calls from Ticketmaster and Bank of America.

Next time you call your phone company, gas company, cable company, or whatever mega-conglom that’s fucking up your life, say the following: “This call may be recorded.” Then, if you want to, record it. Even if you don’t, the threat may be enough to make these people sit up and take notice.

AOL sucked as far back as 2004

This guy recorded his call, but judging by the link below, AOL has had lunatic customer service reps for a long time now. This is from 2004:

Subject: your bullshit
you know what man, your site is bullshit. You and all your techie wannabe friends, all you do is complain about AOL on your website… Let me ask you then, why do you come back? After your account is cancelled, WHY DO YOU COME BACK? why do you click on that signup screen AFTER your account is terminated. You spoke with the retention people, so you would know whats up… If you ACTUALLY LISTENED TO WHAT THEY SAY. They ALWAYS inform you of what date your account is cancelled on. NOW AOL does NOT bill people for no reason. If you sign on AFTER your cancellation date, you automatically REACTIVATE your account. Its simple. If you dont want aol, tell the retention person straight up. Tell them you dont want it. They will cancel you once they feel you have enough information. TIP: dont cut off a retention consultant, they will only inform you more about the GREAT deals that aol offers. DONT WHINE DONT COMPLAIN… USE IT OR DONT USE IT…. AOL DOES NOT STEAL UR MONEY. Is the Do Not Call list working?

Ask Yahoo! asks the question, Is the Do Not Call list working?. The answer seems to be yes, but it’s not perfect. They also provide a few useful links, including this telemarketing counter-script. We’ve found that saying “HEY! THIS SOUNDS GREAT!
